FAQs

What is included in the Session Fee?

There are three main stages in the overall process: planning details, the photo shoot and image selection. Planning includes one or more consultations to determine your objectives and answer any questions you may have. It also includes choosing a location for the photoshoot and setting a time. In the case of outdoor portraits, time of day is an important decision because we will be using natural light.

How are images delivered?

For each session type you will get a high resolution digital file that you can use however you like. I will provide the file in various sizes to suit your needs, such as specific print sizes or social media applications. In the case of social media, you will get individual files that match the recommendations for each social channel - although they are all mostly square, each one has a specific image size requirement.

Do I have to pay for prints?

In a word, no. You get a digital file that can be used with any commercial photo printing provider. I can recommend various providers based on print quality and mounting needs. If you would rather have me deal with it for you, I will include a small markup on the actual cost. The only exception is for photos for commercial use, in which case there is a licensing fee and rights that vary with the intended use.

How long does a session last?

A headshot will take 30 - 45 minutes. Lifestyle photography will take 1 - 2 hours. Family portraits will vary depending on the number and age of the people, but figure 1.5 hours or more. These are all general guidelines - I do not stop shooting until we are both happy with the results!

How should I dress?

Ultimately, that is really up to you. I will provide some suggestions during our consultation meeting, based on what you are looking for in terms of mood and how the photo will be used. For example, in the case of a professional headshot for LinkedIn I would suggest somewhat muted colors and avoiding strong patterns. Family photos or large groups work better if there is some basic style and color harmony amongst the group.
